Write for the Giving America Series
Contributism is all about believing that a better society is one where more people get to
give more of their judgment, their work, and their selves to one other through common
projects. So it is with the Giving America Series. If you have thought hard about how
America should reform itself, we want your voice — even (especially) if your
voice says we've gotten something all wrong.
The ask
Three ways in:
- Respond to a proposal. Extend it, sharpen it, or show us what it misses. We publish a
FARE audit with every
proposal — honest low scores and all — because we want to start somewhere and
improve from there. If you think a proposal is wrong, make the case in public.
- Claim an open docket proposal. Whole domains are still unwritten. Pick one and write
the proposal that should be there. The ones we most want filled right now:
Housing & Transportation Justice
- Pitch your own proposal. We haven't thought of everything. The best proposals
probably haven't even been concieved of yet. Tell us what you're thinking about and we'll
work together to write it, model it, hone it, and one day make it real.
The offer
-
Accepted pieces run in The Contributist Reader and the Giving America Series,
under your own name or anonymously.
-
Accepted writers are invited to speak on a panel at the Refounding America
conference at Stanford University, Fall 2026.
- We edit closely and generously. Bring a rough draft; we’ll help make it land.
How
Email hello@contributism.org with a pitch of two or three paragraphs
— or a full draft if you have one. Tell us which proposal you’re responding to,
your new proposal idea, or which open idea you want to claim. No forms, no application.
